* Graduate Athletic Training Students and the New Athletic Medicine Facility Featured in IT News

Several Graduate Athletic Training students were featured in the University of Oregon's IT News. This unlikely connection has been made possible by the advancement in sports medicine technologies that are available in the new Athletic Medicine Facility at the UofO. (View full release)

 

* Jason Hand Featured in Register Guard for Study on Training and Whole Body Vibration

"The concept of building muscle strength and improving bone density by merely standing, or even sitting, on a vibrating platform sounds too good to be true — and it certainly has its skeptics — but there’s also a roster of scientists and physiologists who agree there’s something to it." Amongst them is Jason Hand (2008) - he studied the impact of using of a vibration platform to enhance the effects of weight training. (View full release)

 

* UOGRADAT program director,Susan Verscheure, was presented with the Ersted Award for Distinguished Teaching by University President Dave Frohnmayer. This award is one of the highest teaching awards at the University of Oregon. Her innovative and student-centered teaching style makes her a standout instructor on campus. Congratulations Susan!

 

* The UOGRADAT program is hosting its second State of the Profession Symposium, with a focus on Athletic Training Education & Professional Practice. The event will take place on February 9th from 12-5pm.

 

* Kim Detwiler and Ellie Rozumalski, class of '07, are making history at the NATA!   Kim is the chair of the NATA's new Young Professionals Committee and Ellie will be District 4's representative for the same committee. 

 

* Kim Detwiler (2007) Kim is the NATA's newest blogger! Check out her Young Professionals Blog on the NATA Website. Congrats Kimmy!

 

* Jenni Rieger (2007) Is moving to Italy after graduation!! Good Luck Jenni!!

 

* Ellie Rozumalski (2007) accepted a position as assistant athletic trainer at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She will be responsible for volleyball and track and field as well as other administrative duties. Way to go, Ellie!!

 

Jodi Schneider (2007) accepted a position as an athletic training fellow at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, CO. Congrats Jodi!

 

* Kim Detwiler (2007) accepted an Assistant Professor position at the University of La Verne, where she will teach several classes for the Undergraduate Athletic Training Program and work with either Track & Field or Softball. Congrats Kim!

 

* New Blog Launched- 2/19/07- Check out our new blog http://athletictrainingblog.blogspot.com/. This blog is intended to stimulate discussion on all topics related to advancing Athletic Training. Check it out!!!

 

* Kim Detwiler (2007) Kim's postcards to support the Access to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services Improvement Act have been recognized several times nationally! The NATA Governmental Affairs Section on the NATA Website has her templates posted for all members to use, and her efforts have also been recognized twice in the NATA News! (Page 12 of the December edition and Page 53 in the January edition) Awesome job Kim!!!!
